Comparative methodologies should include the interactive aspects of the global movement of people, goods, and ideas. There is a term Comparative Consciousness, which essentially is making those comparative connections non-consciously, but instead making them naturally. It is most often, people make these connections naturally, rather than consciously. But in some way, shape of form, we naturally make connections based on things that we are accustomed too. Shaykh I-Sha'rawi published his guide about many islamic women, when married aren’t able to change their name, the have to take the name of their spouse. It is said that many islamic women see American Women as sex “objects” to American Men. Another example is Stanley Brandes, book Skulls to the Living, Bread to the Dead: The Day of the Dead in Mexico and Beyond, while in Mexico, as he learned the culture, he quickly saw the comparison of the Day of the Dead celebration. He saw that in America, Day of the Dead is mainly for children and is a holiday celebration. But in Mexico, it is usually a celebration for adults, commemorating the loved one they have lost. These are only two examples of ways we have seen comparative consciousness. There are still many other ways, and examples out there. As said we do this naturally and don’t realize it, but now it may be realized.
