Political System - Cuba

Isaak Townsend
Cuba is a country that has been Communist in the past, during the time of Fidel Castro, who enforced Communism. Communism is a system, that in theory, would work better for the people than any other system, by eliminating the risk of failure. Each person would do their best work to better their country and each person would be paid the same, and the government would have total power. But when put in to practice, because people get paid the same, regardless of what they do, or how they do it, they will do the least effort and easiest jobs they can get.  Because of the fact that the government has total power its like the book "Animal Farm."  "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely".(Sir John Dalberg-Acton, 8th Baronet). During its time of being Communist, many people tried to get out of Cuba. Because from things that the refugees from Cuba have said, the government controlled everything. It told you what do, what to think, and everything that the government said was "the truth." Communism also destroyed the idea of a free market because everything was controlled by the government. You couldn't choose to start your own businesses, even if the government let you. You would still earn the same with that business as every body else. Now, Cuba is a Socialist country. Socialism and Communism are virtually interchangeable words. The one difference between the two is:  In Communism, the government controls all property and economic funds. In Socialism, everything is shared among the citizens, but only as the government allocates. From watching how people have responded to their country being Communist, Communism doesn't seem like a good way to run a country.  By being ignorant of what has happened in other Socialist countries, socialism is being brought to the United States of America. In theory it is one of the best systems, but in practice it doesn't work.  People often work hard for a reward. If there is not a reward, then people do not work as hard.
