CP: Interview 1

My first interview was a phone interview (obviously) with Hillary Boswell. She is the program director for HCA, UH, OB GYN Residents program (who also happens to be a good family friend). This means she helps women deliver babies as well as helps upcoming OBGYN doctors find people to shadow and learn from. One of the things that all of OBGYN doctors have to learn are facts about abortion as well as how to perform an abortion. She used to provide abortions for Planned Parenthood, however Houston's medical industry has made it hard to be an abortion provider as well as an employed physician at another hospital. This was something that stood out to me because it never occurred to me that abortion providers weren't only employed specifically for that at Planned Parenthood, as well as the fact that many hospitals in Houston are against abortion and refuse to hire someone because they voluntarily perform abortions. She also told me that she usually meets a woman once a month who is seeking counseling about an abortion. Because she cannot actually perform an abortion, she recommends them to Planned Parenthood because they provide the fastest and easiest access to abortion and abortion counseling. I also asked if it is legal for OBGYN doctors to provide false information to woman seeking abortions, and although it is not illegal, she said it was definitely and ethical violation. However, this answer stood out to me, because I have heard about clinics and doctors who do that, and I would think that it is illegal, but now that I have heard from a reliable source that it may not be illegal makes me lost some disrespect towards the government. Although they may disapprove of abortions, women deserve the right to know every scientifically proven fact about abortions so they can make the decision for themselves on whether they will get an abortion or not.

Gabriel Han Sep 16 IHSS Cultural Anthropology Blog I read an article about the Dead Sea Scrolls, and a study around them conducted by MIT. The Dead Sea Scrolls are a series of ancient Hebrew texts that were discovered in 1947. The study was focused on one scroll known as the Temple scroll, out of the 900 or so scrolls. Further Investigation of Immigration

Andreas Cantu Mr. Roddy IHSS 12 April 2020 Chinese Immigration  Between the years 1845 and 1855 the US saw a massive influx of chinese immigrants. This was due to the gold rush in California. Chinese immigrants would leave the friends and family in search of a better life with more opportunities in America, and gold rush gave them their best shot at making it big in America. Although they had hopes to join the gold mining most of them took jobs with coal mining companies for little to no commision. This was huge problem for the immigrants, because it made life in America very difficult. Thoughts on Engagement

After doing the research for my challenge project on kill and no kill animal shelters, I have decided that I want to find a way to educate people on the internet without stating any form of opinion in order to be informative without being offensive. What I want to do is make a website that will have information both good and bad on kill and no kill animal shelters in an effort to educate the public on the matter. many people will for blind opinions on specifically kill shelters as they don't do the research and end up attacking people without any information on the matter.
