CP Interview 2


For my second interview I interviewed another family friend and Post Oak Parent, Rochelle Hess. She is the vice president for communications and marketing for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast. This means she provides talks about what Planned Parenthood does and its goals, to different communities, reporters, patients or elected officials. She has worked there for fifteen years and started because she's always been passionate about women's health. She first enrolled in medical school to become a doctor but it was really hard so she dropped out and decided to change her major. One question I asked was about how this pandemic has affected abortions. Her answer was that they are currently in a legal battle because Governor Abbott has outlawed abortions during this pandemic. This stood out to me because it was especially stupid of our governor to do that. She said how he was always against abortions and has used this pandemic as an excuse to shut down abortions. This is very stupid of him because abortions is a medical right for every woman to have and should not be shut down because of a pandemic. Nobody is shutting down MD Anderson and that is because it is a medical necessity and right for everyone just like Planned Parenthood. She also told me about how only two out of the six Planned Parenthood abortion clinics in Houston provide abortion. I think for my CP engagement part, I am gonna ask her for the address of the two clinics and make an infographic with abortion statistics and also advertise those two clinics because they provide all counseling and other abortion services like all the other Planned Parenthood clinics but they also are the only two that actually perform an abortion.

Gabriel Han Sep 16 IHSS Cultural Anthropology Blog I read an article about the Dead Sea Scrolls, and a study around them conducted by MIT. Andreas Cantu Mr. Roddy IHSS 12 April 2020 Chinese Immigration  Between the years 1845 and 1855 the US saw a massive influx of chinese immigrants. This was due to the gold rush in California. Chinese immigrants would leave the friends and family in search of a better life with more opportunities in America, and gold rush gave them their best shot at making it big in America. Although they had hopes to join the gold mining most of them took jobs with coal mining companies for little to no commision. Thoughts on Engagement

After doing the research for my challenge project on kill and no kill animal shelters, I have decided that I want to find a way to educate people on the internet without stating any form of opinion in order to be informative without being offensive. What I want to do is make a website that will have information both good and bad on kill and no kill animal shelters in an effort to educate the public on the matter. many people will for blind opinions on specifically kill shelters as they don't do the research and end up attacking people without any information on the matter.
