Syncretism:
Definition - An incorporation of different alien traits into your culture.
Example - An example of syncretism can be found in American food. A lot of food we have here originates from other places in the world, such as tacos, pizza and egg rolls. Then we will mix the foods together and get something like asian tacos.
Diffusion:
Definition - When something gets spread more widely, around cities and countries.
Example - An example of cultural diffusion is how american slang can spread around the world after being heard from American movies and tv shows. This is caused when the people who do not know a lot about American culture. So when they hear Americans talking in movies they assume that is how all Americans speak. Thus causing them to unconsciously make stereotypes about Americans.
Great use of an example for syncretism when talking about American food.
