Enculturation
This is the process of which a person or persons are adapting to or trying to become part of a certain culture. An example of enculturation is the reading we had for seminar "Not a Real Fish" the ethnographer or the author traveled to Solomon islands in search for the Kwaio. Upon his first visits author couldn't communicate with efficiency and had almost no understanding of their culture or society. With more visits he acquired the skill of speaking Kwaio fluently, this is a major contributing factor to achieve further accuracy in his research. When he presented his skill of language before the people of Kwaio they accepted him with more enthusiasm then when he arrived as a tourist. But author not only learned the language of Kwaio he also wears his own custom personalized Kwaio stringed shells and valuables, and participates in their feasts and customs. I personally think that this is a very good example of enculturation because this man, the author gave an insight to what it looks like to be an insider but not really (Keesing 72).

Socialization
This is the process of where a child or child's/children acquire the skills and knowledge to survive in their society and participate in their cultural activities. An example of this is if a child was growing up in an obscure town or village in china and it was mainly a farming village they would have to acquire certain skills to be useful in the fields. When they were younger they probably observed their parents when they were working and learned the language as well. Communication is often one of the most useful skills when living with a community or group. The child would also be given things to do weather the tasks were as simple as washing clothes to harvesting plants. Along the journey to adulthood this child would have to participate in cultural customs and festivals. The when they are older they would have learned all the skills necessary to become a working member of their society.
