This article talks about how Indians started changing the minds of Americans in around 1970. Even though these Indians might have had conflicts in the past with these Americans, the Indian's goal was to try and get them on their side to work against the government. The only reason at the time for why the Indians and Whites were not working together in these rural areas, was because the Americans weren’t open to cultural diversity. So, the Indians took their chances and decided to try and influence these Americans to join forces with them and work against the government, companies, and other organizations. This turned out to be a success and ended up forming many different Indian and American groups (Grossman).
One of these groups is called the “Cowboy Indian Alliance,” which was formed in Nebraska and North Dakota in 2013. The combined Indians and Americans worked together to stop different mining projects, oil mines, and so much more. Not just that, but the Americans also helped to protect the Indians sacred burial sites. Although, Nebraska and North Dakota weren’t the only group of Indians and Americans that were formed. There were groups formed in Michigan, Wisconsin, Oregon, Washington, and more, that worked together to help benefit each other. An organization was going to build an export terminal for oil and coal, which was going to damage water quality and ultimately fish, but was stopped by the Indians through their treaty rights. The American fishermen that realized that an oil terminal might be built, started to help the Indians prevent it (Grossman). All of this goes to show how two very different cultures can come together to help one another, no matter what their differences are.
This article was very interesting as I had no idea that the Natives were working with the Americans. I was also very surprised that the Natives were working with the Americans at all after the history that these two cultures have been through. The Americans drove the Natives out of their land to take it for themselves. Although now, the Natives are going into the American's land to try and work together with them. Overall, it is incredible to see that these two cultures decided to put aside their differences to help each other against something that neither one could stop on their own.

The Indians and The Americans Working Together
There are many republican Americans placed in rural areas that aren’t open to cultural diversity and aren’t particularly a fan of the government. The Natives knowing this decided to mingle with Americans to essentially form an alliance. Indians are changing American minds around cultural diversity and being more open to different people. Although, when did the Natives start having an influence on Americans (Grossman). This article talks about how Indians started changing the minds of Americans in around 1970.
