Immigration in to the United States
Immigration for the United States has always been a problem in some way but the most prominent problem seemed to be that their were to many over crowding 12 million immigrants coming in a time of 30 years is what caused the creation of Ellis Island to become what it became, they were created out of need and weren't meant to be very comfortable. When some people came to the United States they tried to preserve their culture like the Scandinavians tried to build their own homes but didn't have traditional materials so they used different materials some thought that they just thought of the shelter they ha built as a house and not a home. The reasons for why people left their home country's differs greatly but all falls under the same umbrella, job insecurity. some people had lost their jobs and others had plans to start their own business and some even thought that they would lose their jobs before they had even lost it, America was advertised as the land of opportunity and anyone could have success here if they put their minds to it and actually try. As we see now in our modern society with people who own large companies and corporations who use illegal immigrants for cheep labor it doesn't seem like a new thing it seems that even back then people abused the amount of immigrants for cheep labor because they knew that they had no where else to go so they were essentially free expendable labor to the bigger companies. It seems that this has been going on for at the least a century and a half and the immigrants could have been the reason for why the working conditions were so bad because there were so many of them that it didn't matter if one or two quit you had fifty more to replace them.
