Thoughts on Engagement
With Coronavirus becoming more of an issue, firearms are shown to be more essential than one might think. Due to Coronavirus, Police have to choose which calls that they respond to. Covid-19 has shown that we cannot trust the government for our personal security and safety. Since the Dallas Police Department wants to limit contact with officers and civilians the police will no longer respond to: Burglary of a Coin Operated Machine, Burglary of a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Mischief, Debit/Credit Card Abuse, Graffiti, Harassing Phone Calls, Lost Property, Reckless Damage, Theft, Shoplifting, Identity Theft, Property Theft (Auto Accessories) and Theft of Service. This shows exactly why the President of the United States kept gun shops open during Coronavirus, they are essential business. You can have a suspicious person walking around your neighborhood and if you call the police they will not respond. At times like this the 2nd Amendment is essential for all Americans to stay safe. I will engage with this issue by attempting to speak with a representative from the Police Dept. or a government employee involved in criminal justice. I will speak to the owners of gun shops and gun ranges to learn more about they’re opinion on this issue. Many people are not in support of firearms in this country and they believe that we should trust the police to be able to protect us, Covid-19 has proven that we can’t always trust the government for our safety. At the end, I will make an infographic, blog or website that is designed to show how the second amendment is essential and how Americans are lucky to have it.
