Interview 2
My topic for my challenge project is the journey that immigrants have to take to come to the United States while enduring physical and mental challenges that come with the journey. For my second interview, I decided to interview an immigrant, who prefers to stay anonymous, that came to the United States from Guatemala. The Immigrants journey to the United States lasted from October 12 to October 20 in 1985. For the Immigrant going throw, Mexico was not easy. The Immigrant crossed the border with the help of coyotes. This immigrant got lost in the mountains, the poachers said to hide in the mountains so that immigration would no find them, in the group that this immigrant was in there were more than 50 people. Once the Immigrant was hiding, this immigrant fell asleep because of the large amount of walking that this Immigrant had to do. Once the Coyotes told the immigrants that it was time to go the Immigrant was still asleep. Once the Immigrant woke up the others in the group where gone. So the Immigrant went to find the Rio Grande. Once they got to the Rio Grande there was no one there. Since the immigrant thought, it would be best to go back to where the immigrant was left behind. The Immigrant found the Coyotes but they did not recognize the Immigrant, so the Immigrant was at gunpoint. All of this happened near Laredo. It was very hot. Once they were in America the had to hide in another mountain for 2-3 days, they didn’t have any food or water until the Coyotes came and brought them a little water and some chicken. They were divided into groups of 20-30 people and put into vans, the immigrants were sitting on top of each other. They left at about 4 pm and arrived at about 10 pm or 11 pm.
