Political Systems - North Korea

North Korea is a country that his been in Political and Social strife for many years. There are two different views on their government that contradict each other in relation to what form it is. The constitution of North Korea states that it is a "Democratic Republic". If North Korea were a Democratic Republic, the people would have some say in who was choosing the policies that were put in to place, and some of the political positions would be based on heritage and family. North Korea, however, is not alike to this at all. The only resemblance that they hold to a Democratic Republic is that they call themselves the DPRK (Democratic People's Republic of Korea). Almost everyone with an outside perspective believes that North Korea is a Stalinist Totalitarian Dictatorship. Kim Jong Un holds full power over everything in the country, and nothing besides death can come in his way. Many people believe that this amount of power is wrong, including most of the citizens of North ...

Andreas Cantu Mr. Roddy IHSS 21 January 2020 The Political System of Saudi Arabia  The country of Saudi Arabia is located in Asia and is currently a Monarchy. They are ruled by the Al Sa Ud family. Saudi Arabia has never had a written constitution but their king issued the document known as the  Basic Law of Government. This document provides all the guidelines for the way that their government is supposed  to be run as well as the rights and responsibilities of the citizens. The king has many responsibilities that involve the l egislative, executive, and judicial functions. However as prime minister he governs the council of ministers. They oversee the:  foreign and domestic policy, defense, finance, health, and education. All major decisions are made with consensus that happens mostly within the royal family. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is separated  into 13 administrative  regions, these regions are then split up into many different districts. The...

The  Judiciary  is independent of the executive and the legislature The president is Nayib Bukele . As of 2014, it has been reported that the country is stable but has faced many problems when it comes to gang activity in most of El Salvador. Political Systems: Peru

Andres Yengle Mr. Roddy IHSS  January 21, 2020 I decided to write about The Republic of Peru. Peru has a republic type of government. They have a President that is elected by the citizens of the Country. The citizens are forced to vote by law though. They have three branches of the government similar to the U.S. The Peruvian government is stable to a certain degree but has corruption with the presidents constantly having to resign due to past contracts or bad things they did in the past dug up by the citizens. Three former presidents are under investigation and one former president who shot himself while being arrested. The most recent president that resigned was Pedro Pablo Kuczynski who was elected in 2016. He was arrested for suspected money laundering in 2018. In 2018 the vice president Martín Vizcarra was elected as president and a new vice president Mercedes Aráoz was appointed. In 2019 Martín Vizcarra dissolved the congress which means he essentially got r...

Political System

Saudi Arabia is a monarchy and currently ruled by King Salmon after his father died. The throne is passed down between the males within the family. The king has a very broad expanse of power. He chooses all the government higher ups as well as all the military generals and ambassadors. He also has the power to pardon or condemn anyone in court. In 1933, the king of Saudi Arabia issued a document known as the Basic Law of Government. This document outlines how the government works and what the citizens purpose is. This also helped establish a new legislative body, the Consultative Council. They are all technical experts, appointed by the king, that have the right draft a legislation. The king also looks over the Council of Ministers. This council presides over foreign and domestic policies, defense, finance, education and health. Although these councils have much power, many of the big decisions rely on a consensus within the royal family. However, although now women have many rights ...

Political Systems: Switzerland

Henry Quillin Mr. Roddy IHSS 1 - 21 - 20 Switzerland      Switzerland, formally known as the Swiss Confederation, is a small mountainous country in Europe with a population of around 8 and a half million people. Switzerland is a federal republic, as it has a Federal Council of seven members that serve as the collective head of state and government of Switzerland. Unlike many other countries, the general population does not elect the members of the Federal Council, who are instead elected by the Federal Assembly. The Federal Assembly also elects the Federal Chancellor, the Attorney General and the judges of the federal supreme court.      Switzerland is considered a direct democracy and is a confederation, as Switzerland has 26 subdivisions called cantons, which are similar to the states of our country. The Swiss Confederation was founded in 1291 to unify and create a defensive alliance for these cantons, beginning with the unification of ...

Political Systems - Norway

In 1814 when Norway separated from Denmark they became a democratic constitutional monarchy, which today is led by King Harald V. A democratic constitutional monarchy still has a king, but they do not hold as much power as they would in a normal monarchy, in this case they barely hold any. Most of the power in the country goes to the parliament and the prime minister, which are chosen by the king and vote of the people. Norway has been ranked the best democracy in the world by some people, and in elections 78 percent of the population votes (20 percentage points more than in the U.S.) It is said that "Norweigans are the happiest people in the developed world." There are many reasons that could lead to this, but one could be the high trust levels they have with their elected officials. Although they pay somewhat high taxes they see the money being put towards good causes such as building schools, or other needs of the country. They also have a muc...
