Economic Availability of Alcohol and Alcoholism Incidence Rates in Russia

My article talked about alcoholism and the economic availability of vodka in Russia. Russia has one of the highest alcoholism rates in Europe because of the prevalence of drinking vodka. Researchers found that reducing the economic availability of alcoholism is the most effective way to lower the rate of alcoholism. Experts agree that the availability of vodka in Russia is one of the most important predictors in the fluctuation of Russia's mortality rate over the past decade. There are around 25 million heavy drinkers in Russia, which is around 20% of Russia's population. I think it’s pretty interesting how heavily alcohol affects the people in Russia. It's pretty sad that the availability of alcohol in Russia fluctuates with Russia's mortality rate. Something I want to look more into is, why there is so much alcoholism in Russia. From what I found the USA has around 15 million heavy drinkers, but the population is around twice Russia’s. The USA having 15 million compared to Russia’s  25 million, when our population is much larger, shows how big the issue of alcoholism is in Russia.
