The French Canadians that emigrated to the United States were usually textile workers that had been working in the mills of Manchester. Although, the wages in these textile factories were little to nothing. This caused many of the French Canadians to go to the United States in pursuit of better wages so that their families could have a better life. However, emigrating to a new place was extremely difficult for textile workers. Many of them had to sell all of their personal belongings in auctions and use all of the money they had saved up to go on the long trip to the states. When these immigrants arrived, the few that had relatives in the states would go live with them, but the others would have to live in cramped houses. Most of the people that arrived from Manchester were out of money and had trouble affording even basic necessities. Many people struggled for years as jobs were hard to get, money was low, and everyone was just trying to make ends meet.
The next group of immigrants was the Norwegians who began immigrating from the years of 1825 and on. Similar to the French Canadians, the Norwegians wanted to go to the states for a better life, but some also wanted to go because of the idea that it was safer there. Also, there were some people that had already gone to the states and were sending back letters to people in Norway saying that they were able to easily acquire land and had plenty of food to eat. This caused many people to save up their money to travel on a boat, and if they immigrated past the year of 1862 when the railroads were built, then they would be able to travel by train. Going to the U.S. was a difficult and strenuous process, and then thriving once having arrived was a whole nother battle.
Additionally, another group that struggled when going to the states were the Germans. Although instead of going to the city to find jobs at factories, the Germans came to Fredericksburg in Texas to establish more of a farming town. One of the large immigrations was in 1846 with two carts and twenty wagons filled with mainly Germans that were seeking economic and political freedom. In the beginning, things were tough as the town was just getting started. People needed to establish a way to get food, living quarters, and more. After a few years though, the town of Fredericksburg was coming together as everyone was settling down, and finding their role in this communal town.
In conclusion, all of these different groups of immigrants had a difficult time when going to the United States. Everyone had to endure the expensive trip over which lasted countless days. They then had to adapt to the new environment and find a way to support themselves or their family by either getting a job, working on a farm, or some other form of work. This was extremely difficult as millions of other immigrants were all trying to do the same thing. In the beginning, people were working day in and day out so they could put food on their plates and a roof over their heads. For most, coming to the United States was one of the most difficult things they had ever done in their lifetime.

Further Investigation of Immigration
During the 19th century, there was a flood of immigration going to the United States. This was mainly because of many immigrants wanting to go to the Land of Opportunity to find better work, freedom, and overall a more prosperous future. Although, as the immigrants started piling in millions at a time all throughout the 1800s, things didn't look too good. Since there were so many people, no one could find a job, and when they did, the wages were low and the employees were usually taken advantage of by their employers. On top of everyone trying to find a job, it was also the time of the Industrial Age, which meant machinery was being implemented into so many factories. This allowed companies to get rid of employees as the machines could do the same job faster and for a smaller price. All of these changes had drastic effects on people from everywhere coming into the United States, but especially the French Canadians, Norwegians, and German immigrants. The French Canadians that emigrated to the United States were usually textile workers that had been working in the mills of Manchester.
